To remove a package, use the command:
#dpkg -r <package name>
If this fails due to dependency error, it is possible to forcefully remove the package using the below command:
#dpkg --purge --force-all <package name>
--purge : Removes including conf files.
--force-all : Forcefully remove without confirmation.
